What caused damage to my comuter?

I have recently moved and my belongings were stored temporarly (2 months) in storage where the temperatures were well below freezing (Northern Montana weather). I recently set up and startedmy computer and heard a"pow" type noise and there was smoke coming out of the computer. What do you think happened to my computer? Is the computer salvagable?
