Ok, very simply. Mitosis is the division of regular body cells, you start with a full set of chromosomes and end with two new cells having a full set. Meiosis is the division of reproductive cells, you start with a full set of chromosomes but end in Meiosis 2 with only half the chromosomes, in the human 23 is the (n) so double that 46 is (2n) or the full set. So for reproduction (ual) you have n + n = 2n. Hope this helps and yes there are numerous sites out there to help you and include all the phases.
