Is this statement this person made correct?

Let me explain my train of thought. Russian formalism dictates that the most important, no the only important aspect of art is form, it is purely visual aspects without the narrative, color, brushwork, line, curves, shapes, composition, texture, and medium are all considered parts of form. Maurice Dennis said that “Remember, that a picture, before it is a picture of a battle horse, a nude woman, or some story, is essentially a flat surface covered in colors arranged in a certain order.” In the US in the 1950’s, formalism in art was a means of defense for high culture against m culture. Accoprding to Emmanual Kant, art must have genius and aesthetics, art must be tasteful, art must invoke in the viewer the same feelings as in the artist, nature is not art because it isn’t made according to preceding notions. Art must be made according to preceding notions, which means that you must have an intention to make something when you make it. You can pour paint on the floor on accident and call it art, if you make a chair, you have to know what a chair is and have intention to make a chair before you start. Now, what does formalism have to do with my views of art? Just about nothing. While I love good form and think that a well done piece is amazing, I think that the number one important thing in art is content and context, which formalism discards.
