Is Gwen Ifell the right moderator for the VP debate tomorrow night?

Given her strong pro-Obama history and strong support for the Obama campaign, is anyone surprised that she didn't recuse herself from the moderator role? What does this say about the supposed impartiality of the press in this election cycle?
