I need a car for college.....?

I am a student and i am trying to get a car for school. I do not have a lot of money in the bank as of right now. I wanted to get financing on a vehicle but when i went to the dealership they told me i either needed around 4000 to 5000 for a down payment or i needed a good co signer. I have no one who can co sign for me and there is no way i can come up with that much money down. I also work as a part time nanny and get paid in private checks so i have no proof of income. I am looking for a 4wd or Awd vehicle. This car is to get me back and forth to school and also to get a second job. Is there any good places anyone knows i could get a student car loan?
